What does each role and capability mean?
Your role decides what you can see and do. Each role is a set of capabilities. For the short version, see What can each team role do?
Can a technician see prices?
Yes. Every role sees the prices on jobs, estimates and invoices. Unit costs, margins and labor cost need View cost & profit, which owners and admins hold by default.
Roles
- Owner: created the workspace and holds every capability, at the top of the hierarchy. The role can't be renamed, edited, deleted or given to anyone else.
- Admin: every capability. It differs from Owner only in hierarchy.
- Office: the five work capabilities plus Send & read messages, Manage templates, Approve timesheets and View reports. No team, roles, settings, cost and profit, or SMS setup.
- Technician: the default for a new member, with the five work capabilities only. No settings, reports, Communications Log or templates.
- Custom roles: an owner or admin picks the capabilities and places the role in the hierarchy.
The five work capabilities are Manage jobs, Manage contacts, Manage estimates, Manage invoices and Manage schedule.
Every workspace has Owner, Admin, Office and Technician. Some older workspaces also keep a Dispatcher role: the work capabilities plus Send & read messages and Manage templates. It can be edited, not deleted.
A new custom role starts with the work capabilities its creator holds. Roles change under Settings → Team & roles → Roles.
