Refund a card payment
The owner can refund a card payment from the invoice, in full or in part. The money goes back to the customer's card through Stripe, and the customer is emailed.
Refund a payment
- Open the invoice and press the card payment in its payments list.
- In Payment details, press Refund payment.
- To refund part of it, change the Refund amount.
- Optionally add a Reason.
- Confirm with the refund button, which names the amount.
What you see
A toast confirms the amount went back to the customer's card, usually within 5–10 business days. The payment reads Refunded, or Partially refunded for part of it. A paid invoice reopens: This invoice will change from Paid back to Open.
Refund is missing or refused
- A cash or check payment you recorded by hand has no refund. Void it instead.
- This payment is under dispute. Stripe holds it until the dispute closes, so it cannot be refunded.
- Your Stripe balance can't cover this refund yet, so nothing was refunded. Try again once the funds have arrived.
- You're offline. Refunds need a connection so Stripe can confirm the money went back.
Who can do this
Only the workspace owner, with Manage invoices. Admins and others ask the owner.
